Shmoo Tool
Colors on a shmoo plot
444
This paraticular example shows an output pin (Q7) under various load
conditions. The load varies from 0 mA to 30 mA. Depending on the
load, the output voltage drops. The load is introduced to the pin Q7
with the tester's Programmable Load circuit.
The passed and failed tests are indicated by different colors. You can
get the actual settings at a particular point by clicking on it.
Several 2D Shmoo Plots may be overlaid to effectively produce a 3D
overlay Shmoo. For example, you could use this to:
• compare Shmoos of several different devices under the same condi-
tions
• shmoo a 3rd parameter in the overlay axis (for example, a Pin)
• compare Shmoos using different vector sets
mode
A shmoo test can be executed in normal mode or fast mode. Fast mode
speeds up test execution, but normal mode provides more detailed
results. (Fast mode can miss "holes".) Different results can be obtained
by specifying other modes, for example, 'First Failing Cycle', or 'Error
Count'. These different modes are specified by making one of the
following entries in the test mode text box (see
Examples of plots from the different modes are shown in
Figure
272.
