2-2 Creating a Test Plan
Test Engineer's Responsibilities
Required Tests for the 74ACT299
To test the 74ACAT299 shift register, we will focus on three types of
tests: functional tests, DC tests, and AC tests. Functional tests are typi-
cally a "go/no-go" type of test that determines if the device functionality
is performing as designed. An AC test is usually a "search" type of func-
tional test, where the result is normally a value. A DC test is a measure-
ment of force-current-measure-voltage and vice-versa.
The functional tests you will be performing will include:
• Shift left
• Shift right
• Hold test
• Parallel data load
The DC tests you will be performing will include:
• Continuity
• Operating current
• Iddq
• Input and output leakage
• Input voltage sensitivity (VIH/VIL)
• Output voltage sensitivity (VOH/VOL)
• Power short
The AC tests you will be performing will include:
• Setup and hold time
• Propagation delay time
