Paper-related settings

Select this setting item from Device settings.
• Manage remaining roll amount
Select ON to print a barcode at the end of a roll before you remove it. The printed barcode can be used
in managing the amount of roll paper left. Select OFF if you prefer not to print the barcode.
• Roll paper auto switching
Enables/Disables switching roll paper feed position by detecting the paper size.
• Keep media type
Select Enable to keep using the same type of paper.
• Detect paper setting mismatch
Selects printer action when you start printing with the paper size, the media type, and print settings
different from those registered.
• Paper retention setting
Selects whether to contact the roll nip with the rolls in feeding paper.
If you select Release, the roll nip does not contact with the rolls and you can feed paper manually. If you
select Retain, the roll nip contacts with the rolls and automatic feeding is enabled. Selecting Release
does not allow you to switch the paper source of rolls (upper or lower) automatically.
• Advanced paper settings
Specifies advanced paper settings for each paper feed position.
Important
• You can select Extension for borderless printing as a setting item for some paper types.
If you select Small for Paper with adequate width on this setting item, a slight border remains on
the paper. In addition, the paper may be smudged with extra ink.
• Paper size recognition settings
Selects which size is preferred when paper size detection is enabled.
◦ Cut sheet setting 1
Select whether ISO A3+ or 13"x19"(Super B) is applied when a sheet of an intermediate size is
detected.
◦ Cut sheet setting 2
Select whether ISO B1 or 28"x40" (ANSI F) is applied when a sheet of an intermediate size is
detected.
◦ Roll paper setting 1
Select whether A3 or 300 mm is applied when a sheet of an intermediate size is detected.
◦ Roll paper setting 2
