20. Center the cable reel by first rotating it clockwise
until it stops. Then rotate it counterclockwise {about
two and half turns) until the arrow mark on the
label points straight up. Reinstall the steering
wheel (see page 17-24).
2 1 . I n s t a l l t h e f r o n t w h e e l s .
Connect the negative cable to the battery.
Fillthe system with power steering fluid, and bleed
air from the system (see page 17-12).
After installation, perform the following:
. Start the engine. allow it to idle, and turn the
steering wheel from lock-to-lock several times to
warm up the fluid. Check the gearbox for leaks
{ s e e p a g e 1 7 - ' 1 1 ) .
. Perform the front toe inspection (see page 18-7).
. Check the steering wheel spoke angle. Adlust by
turning the right and left tie-rods equally, if
necessary.
. Do the PCM idle learn procedure
{ s e e p a g e 1 1 - 1 4 9 ) .
. Do the power window control unit reset
procedure (see page 22-1391.
. Enter the anti-theft code for the radio, then enter
the customer's radio station presets,
' Set the clock.

Special Tools Required

'1. Remove
the boot from the tie-rod end, and wipe the
old grease off the ball pin.
2, Pack the lower area of the ball pin {A) with fresh
multipurpose grease.
Pack the interior of the new boot (B) and Iip (C) with
f resh multipurpose grease.
Note these items when installing new grease:
. Keep grease offthe boot mounting area (D) and
the tapered section (E) of the ball pin.
. Do not allow dust, dirt, or other foreign materials
to enter the bool,
Install the new boot (A) using the specialtool. The
boot must not have a gap at the boot installation
sections (B). After installing the boot, check the ball
pin tapered section for grease contamination. and
wipe it, if necessary.
