Mainshaft 5th Gear Clearance lnspection

Remove the mainshaft transmission housing

b e a r i n g ( s e e p a g e ' 1 4 - 1 9 4 ) .

Assemble 41 x 68 mm thrust washer (A), 4th/5th

c l u t c h ( B ) , 4 t h g e a r c o l l a r { C } , a n d t r a n s m i s s i o n

h o u s i n g b e a r i n g ( D ) o n t h e m a i n s h a f t ( E ) . D o n o t

i n s t a l l t h e O - r i n g s d u r i n g i n s p e c t a o n .

Install the idler gear (F) on the mainshaft by a press,

t h e n i n s t a l l t h e c o n i c a l s p r i n g w a s h e r ( G ) a n d

l o c k n u t ( H ) .

Tighten the locknut to 29 N m (3.0 kgf m, 22 lbf ft).

5. Measure the clearance between the mainshaft

flange (A) and 41 x 68 mm thrust washer (B) with a

feeler gauge (C), in at least three places. Use the

average as the actual clearance

STANDABD: O'03 O'11 mm (0.001-0.004 in')
