1. Before disconnecting the battery, make sure you
have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write
down the frequencies for the radio's preset stations.
2. Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely
supported.
3 . R e m o v e t h e s p l a s h s h i e l d .
4 . R e m o v e t h e d r a i n p l u g ( A ) , a n d d r a i n t h e a u t o m a t i c
t r a n s m i s s i o n f l u i d ( A T F ) . R e i n s t a l l t h e d r a i n p l u g
with a new sealing washer (B).

5. Disconnect the battery negative terminal, then
disconnect the battery positive terminal.
6 . R e m o v e t h e a i r c l e a n e r h o u s i n g a n d t h e i n t a k e a i r
d uct.
7. Remove the battery hold-down bracket, then
remove the battery and battery tray.
8. Remove the harness clamp from the battery base,
then remove the battery base.

9. Remove the transmission ground terminal (A).

Disconnect the 2nd clutch transmission fluid
pressure switch connector (B) and Av/T clutch
pressure control solenoid valve A connector (C),
a n d r e m o v e t h e h a r n e s s c l a m p s ( D ) f r o m t h e c l a m p
brackets 1E).
Disconnect the countershaft speed sensor
connector (A) and mainshaft speed sensor (B).
Remove the transmission range switch connector
(C)from jts bracket {D), then disconnecr rr.
