Chapter 3: Configuring Channels and Call Routing

This chapter discusses configuration options for ports or channels that are not configured for
operator audio (see
the FDAPI
on page 159). This chapter additionally describes how to configure call branding for
DNIS and DDI calls processed by the system's Call Routing feature.

Establishing Port Groups
A port refers to the channel or line capable of carrying one telephone call. A port group is a list
of ports and the order to search those ports. The system makes use of two types of Port
Groups: lnbound and Outbound.

Inbound Port Groups (IPG)

Inbound Port Groups provide a way to configure a list of ports that share the same settings for:
Annunciator assignments
l
Answer Mode
l
Automatic Conference Select
l
Call Routing
l
Code Partition
l
The IPG configuration is stored in a text file, named PortGroupsIB.txt. This file is stored in /usr/
dcb/dbase/admin. The configuration file may be created using a text editor, such as vi, by
anyone with root privileges on the system. Alternately, you can use ftp to transfer the file to the
system.
