Managing Files

Delete

Files are deleted from the system in one of three ways:
1. The system automatically deletes active files older than 30 days.
2. You can use the File Management Menu's Delete option to manually delete files.
3. You can manually delete files by logging into the dcbguest account to directly access the
files (see

Automatically by the System

When the system writes a file, it checks the filename and automatically deletes instances of that
filename that are more than 30 days old. The system retains inactive files, even when the file is
older than the time limit. The system considers a file inactive when the filename is unused for a
period of time. For example, assume it is April 1, and the Traffic Statistics file Dec21 has not
been used since December 21. Even though the file is well over 30 days old, the system retains
the file because no statistics have been issued to that file since December 21.
