Appendix D: SNMP Agent Configuration and MIB
Describes SNMP agent configuration procedures and provides MIB object definitions.

Configuring the Master Agent Configuration File

The /etc/srconf/agt/snmpd.cnf includes the configuration settings for the system's master SNMP
agent, snmpdm. You can store a backup copy of the configuration file in any directory other
than the /etc/srconf/agt directory. The snmpd.cnf file must be configured in accordance with
your network management requirements before you implement the SNMP agent on the bridge.

The remainder of this section describes how to configure the following elements in snmpd.cnf:
MIB-II system group variables (define the managed system)

Trap recipients (the network management stations that receive traps and informs)

MIB II System Parameters - These parameters specify the identity, location, contact
information, and system name of the system on which the snmpd agent is running. This set
also includes a parameter for specifying whether or not the system should generate
authentication failure traps. These parameters should be set at the installation site
per customer requirements.
