Extracting the PRI card

PRI cards consist of a front and a back board. Swap the two boards in pairs. Since the back
board is active it is possible that the problem prompting the swap is on the rear transition card.
Follow this procedure to safely remove the board:
1. Type this command at the command prompt:
isdnmgr -stop <1-based board number>
The system runs through an unload cycle. When complete (about 35 seconds), the system
displays a message on the console and writes an entry in the daily log file indicating that the
board can now be safely removed.
2. Loosen the screws on the top and bottom latches of the front board. (The screws are fixed
to the latch assemblies; do not attempt to remove.)
3. Flip the card's top latch half-way up and the bottom latch half-way down.
!
CAUTION:
When removing the failed board, the latches on the adjacent boards are easy to

bump. If latch is accidentally dropped, all calls on that board drop and the trunks
are removed from service.
Tip:
When the system detects that the bottom latch is partially unlatched, the system

turns on the blue HOT SWAP LED. When you see the blue LED, proceed to the
next step.
4. Flip the latches on the card all the way to disengage the card from the backplane, and pull
the card straight back out of the system chassis.
5. You should not feel any resistance when pulling the card from the chassis.
6. Label all trunk cables and disconnect them from the back board.
