DS400 problem indicators
Blue Locator LED is lit.
When this LED is lit, it has been remotely lit by the
ServeRAID Manager program (running on the
system that is the management station for the
storage subsystem), to aid in visually locating the
storage subsystem.
In a dual controller system, when this LED is lit, it
can possibly mean that one controller is down.
Amber Storage Subsystem Fault LED is lit solidly.
If the fault LED is lit continuously (not flashing),
there is a problem with the storage subsystem. Use
the ServeRAID Manager program to diagnose and
repair the problem.
One or more of the following conditions might exist:
Power supply fault
Fan fault
Overtemperature fault
RAID controller module fault
Battery fault
Cache DIMM fault
XScale DIMM fault
Disk drive fault
Turned ON through SES control page
Green Hard disk drive activity LED is off.
No drive activity is being detected.
Amber Hard Disk Drive Status LED is lit solidly.
Each hard disk drive has a status LED. When this
LED is lit solidly, it indicates that the drive has failed.
Note: When this LED is flashing slowly (one flash
per second), it indicates that the drive is being
rebuilt. When the LED is flashing rapidly (three
flashes per second), it indicates that the RAID
controller is identifying the drive.

Action
None required
Note: The LED can be turned off by selecting
Identify Enclosure from the ServeRAID Manager
program.
Telnet to the administration port of the surviving
controller and enable the alternate controller with
the following command:
controller peer enable
1. Check the LEDs for all components on
enclosure (disk drives, power supplies,
controllers) and follow the solution instructions
provided for the respective illuminated LED.
2. If no other fault LED is on, replace the
controller:
3. If replacing the controller does not resolve the
issue, replace the chassis/backplane assembly.
Start your application and verify that the activity
LED flashes as the drive is accessed.
For a single drive failure, replace the failed drive.
For a multiple drive failure, attempt to determine the
order in which the drives failed and then follow the
appropriate recovery process for their RAID level.
