Trim & Tilt System Service
Slide both trim rod assemblies into of the trim cyl-
inders at the same time. Push the assemblies into
the bore approximately 1.5 inches (38 mm).
Slide the end caps towards the trim cylinders.
Start the end caps by hand.

1. Trim rod end caps
Use Spanner Wrench, P/N 912084, or Spanner
Wrench, P/N 359080, to tighten the trim rod end
caps to a torque of 59 to 70 Ft. lbs. (80 to 94 N·m).
Slowly lower the hoist supporting the outboard
and remove the strap from the gearcase.
Connect the battery cables at the battery.

Filling the Trim and Tilt System

Place an appropriate container under the out-
board to catch spilled fluid. Remove the filler cap.
Note: Use a 16 mm hex socket to remove the filler
cap on DPS models.
Use a CLEAN funnel and hose to add Power
Trim/Tilt Fluid, P/N 767969, to the reservoir. Do
NOT re-install the filler cap at this time.
1. Trim reservoir cap

Turn the key switch ON. Use the trim switch to
cycle the trim system up and down.
Continue to add fluid and cycle the trim and tilt
system until the trim and tilt system begins to
operate normally. There should be no abnormal
noise, such as air in the system, or erratic move-
ment during operation.
Check for trim/tilt fluid leaks. Repair leaks
BEFORE continuing.
The outboard MUST be able to reach the full tilt

UP position BEFORE checking for correct fluid
level.

IMPORTANT:
to contact the splashwell of the boat. Damage to
covers can occur.

ensure operation of the impact protection
built into the unit.
