Shift Housing Disassembly

WARNING
Wear safety glasses to avoid injury.
IMPORTANT:
The shifter housing and forward
bearing are serviced as an assembly. If either are
worn or damaged, replace the complete assembly.
Remove the shift lever pin from the housing.
1. Shift lever pin
Remove the shift lever, magnet and cradle. Move
the shifter detent as needed to help ease removal
of parts.

NOTICE
Discard the shift cradle and shift lever. New
parts MUST be used during installation.
During removal the shift lever will bend and
the cradle will crack and could break.
Even if parts appear to be in good condition,
re-use will result in failure in a short period of
time.
WARNING
Wear safety glasses to avoid personal injury.
The detent ball and spring and come out with
great force.
Wrap the housing with a shop cloth to catch ball
and spring. Rotate the shifter detent 90° in either
direction, then pull the detent out of the housing.

Remove the detent ball and spring.
Remove needle bearings from bearing housing for
cleaning and inspection.
