Final Powerhead Assembly - BRP Evinrude E-TEC G2 Service Manual

Install main bearing screws finger tight, no more
than 60 in. lbs. (7 N·m).
Tighten main bearing screws in three stages:
•
11.5 to 13.5 ft. lbs. (15.5 to 18.3 N·m)
•
28 to 30 ft. lbs. (37.9 to 40.6 N·m)
•
41 to 43 ft. lbs. (55.5 to 58 N·m)
Start in the center and work outward in a spiral
pattern.
Install the crankcase flange screws.
Start in the center and work outward in a spiral
pattern and tighten to a torque of 84 to 108 in. lbs.
(9.5 to 12 N·m).
Test that the crankshaft spins freely without bind-
ing.
IMPORTANT:
After powerhead has been as-
sembled, allow at least two hours for Threebond
1217H sealant to cure before running outboard.

Final Powerhead Assembly

Install the reed plate assemblies and plenum.
Refer to Intake Manifold Service on p. 180.
Install the stator and flywheel. Refer to Flywheel
and Stator Servicing on p. 133.
Install the rear oil pump and oil circulation hoses.
Refer to Oil Component Servicing on p. 204.
Install the cooling water hoses.
Install the exhaust water valve (if equipped). Refer
to Exhaust Water Valve Component Service on
p. 281.
Install the electric starter. Refer to Starter
Removal on p. 138.
Install fuel pump assemblies, fuel filter housing,
and fuel rails, and injectors. Refer to Fuel Com-
ponent Servicing on p. 168.

IMPORTANT:
their original location. Improper injector installation
can result in powerhead failure.
Install the ignition coil brackets and ignition coils.
Refer to Ignition Coil Servicing on p. 135.
Install the center frame, EMM and engine harness
as an assembly. Refer to Center Frame Installa-
tion on p. 71.
To prevent fire and explosion hazard, make
sure all electrical and ignition wiring is routed
and clamped in original positions.
