Remove and inspect crankcase seal rings. Iden-
tify each ring for installation in its original location.
Remove center main bearings and split sleeves
for inspection. DO NOT mix parts. Identify each
bearing for installation in its original location.

Powerhead Studs

Removal
Use a stud remover/installer tool (obtain locally) to
remove studs.
Stud Remover/installer Tool
If a stud remover/installer tool is not available, two
powerhead retaining nuts can be used for an alter-
native method of removal.
Install a powerhead retaining nut fully onto the
stud. Then install a second nut and tighten it
against the first. Place a wrench on the first nut
and turn counter-clockwise to remove the stud.

Installation

install studs. If a stud remover/installer tool is not
available, two powerhead retaining nuts can be
used for an alternative method of installation.
Install eight studs – M10 x 170 mm, and four
studs – M10 x 60 mm, in the locations shown:
