grease. Install washers (one per screw) on injec-
tor retaining screws.
Install screws and washers through mounting
flange of injector and into cylinder head.
Place insulators over injectors and screws.
Place the injector bank into position on the cylin-
der head.
1. Support the injector bank in place on the cylin-
der head.
2. Install the lower screw into the BOTTOM injec-
tor and cylinder head FIRST.
3. Install the upper screw into the TOP injector
and cylinder head SECOND.
4. Then install remaining screws.
Tighten screws in stages, starting with the lower
screw.
First torque is 60 to 84 in.lbs. (7 to 9 N·m)
Second torque is 120 in. lbs. (14 N·m)
Final torque is 24 to 26 ft. lbs. (33 to 35 N·m).
Tighten Screws in Stages

Install fuel rails. Refer to Fuel Rail Service on
p. 172.
Connect the electrical connectors to the fuel injec-
tors.
Install the ignition coils:
Position the ignition coil & bracket assemblies
onto each injector.
Install the ignition coil bracket washers & retain-
ing screws.
Connect the electrical connectors to the ignition
coils.
Use a #2 Posi-drive screwdriver to install the cen-
ter frame screws.
IMPORTANT:
clockwise to start the threads and clockwise to
tighten. Failure to follow this procedure can dam-
age the threads of the center frame mounts.
Connect the battery cables at the battery.
Prime the fuel system and check for fuel leaks.

Repair all leaks.
Supply water to the engine. Start and run the out-
board and check for fuel leaks. Repair all leaks
before returning the outboard to service.
Install the port and/or starboard frames.
Install the engine front, top and rear covers. Install
the side panels. Refer to Engine Cover and
Frame Service on p. 55.
