Water Separating Fuel Filter
IMPORTANT:
Replace the water separating fuel
filter when replacing a vapor separator.
Removal
Install hose pinching pliers on the short hose
between the fuel filter bracket to the vapor separa-
tor assembly. This will prevent fuel from draining
out of the vapor separator.

Use an appropriate filter wrench to turn the filter in
a counterclockwise direction. Remove the filter
carefully to prevent spilling the filter's contents.
Installation
Lubricate filter seal with outboard lubricant and
position filter on threaded mounting tube of filter
bracket. Take care not to damage water in fuel
sensor probe.
Hand tighten until seal contacts filter housing.
Then tighten and additional one-half to one
turn.Remove the hose pinching pliers from the
fuel hose.
Connect the battery cables at the battery.
Run the outboard and check for fuel leaks.
Inline Fuel Filter
Removal
1. Inline fuel filter
Installation
Install filter in fuel supply hoses. Note arrow indi-
cating direction of fuel flow on filter. Secure filter
with new Oetiker clamps.
Connect the battery cables at the battery.

Run the outboard and check for fuel leaks.

Mechanical Fuel Lift Pump Service

The fuel lift pump is serviceable as a complete
assembly. Refer to parts catalog for service parts.
Removal
Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.
Disconnect the fuel inlet hose at the rigging cen-
ter.
Disconnect the fuel outlet hose at the vapor sep-
arator.
