NOTICE
Service procedures of hydraulic manifolds
MUST occur in a clean, dust-free environ-
ment.
When cleaning components use lint-free
shop towels.
Dirt, dust or other contaminants in the
hydraulic system can result in malfunctions
or failures.
Remove the engine from the stern and swivel
bracket. Then remove the stern and swivel
bracket from the boat and place it on a suitable
work bench. Refer to Stern & Swivel Bracket
Removal on p. 334.

Removal

Install a shipping bracket with two screws to pre-
vent the engine from turning and spilling additional
hydraulic steering fluid.
1. Shipping bracket
If the shipping bracket holes do not align with the
stern or swivel brackets open the steering system
bleed valves one-half turn. This will allow the

swivel bracket to pivot. After the shipping bracket
is installed, close the bleed valves

Wipe off any spilled hydraulic fluid.
ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE
Dispose of spilled hydraulic fluid or contaminated
shop towels in an environmentally responsible
manner, or according to local regulations.
Place the stern and swivel bracket in a clean work
area. Place oil absorbent mats or shop towels in a
large pan. Place the pan on a work bench and
place the stern and swivel bracket in the pan.

A quantity of hydraulic oil will spill as the manifold
assembly is removed from the swivel bracket.
Position electrical wiring to the port side of the
stern and swivel bracket for removal. Wiring must
