Installation
WARNING
After servicing the fuel system check for
leaks. Failure to check for fuel leakage could
allow a leak to go undetected, resulting in fire
or explosion.
Check condition of the sealing o-rings on fuel rail
fittings. Lubricate o-rings with outboard lubricant.
Position the fuel rails on the engine.
Install the fuel rail fittings on to the fuel fittings of
the upper fuel injectors.

The fuel supply rail uses green locking devices.
Position the fuel supply rail on the fitting closest
to the cylinder head.

The fuel return rail uses a red locking device.
Position the fuel return rail on the fitting farthest
from the cylinder head.
Install the fuel rail fittings on to the fuel fittings of
the fuel pump & vapor separator assembly.

The fuel supply rail uses green locking devices.
Position the fuel supply rail on the rearward fit-
ting of the vapor separator.

The fuel return rail uses a red locking device.
Position the fuel return rail on the forward fitting
of the vapor separator.
Make sure fittings are fully seated. Push the lock-
ing device to lock the quick connector fittings.
Make sure tabs are in the locked position.
Install the center frame. Use a #2 Posi-drive
screwdriver to install the center frame screws.
IMPORTANT:
Turn self-tapping screws counter
clockwise to start the threads and clockwise to

tighten. Failure to follow this procedure can dam-
age the threads of the center frame mounts.
Next, install the front frame.
Connect the battery cables at the battery.
Prime the fuel system and check for fuel leaks.
Repair all leaks.
Supply water to the engine. Start and run the out-
board and check for fuel leaks. Repair all leaks
before returning the outboard to service.
Install the port frame, followed by the starboard
frame.
Install the port and starboard side panels, engine
front, top and rear covers. Refer to Engine Cover
and Frame Service on p. 55.

Fuel Injector Service

Mark fuel injectors to show cylinder locations.
Fuel injectors must be installed in the correct
cylinder locations. Use Evinrude Diagnostics
software to make sure that EMM program-
ming matches injector positioning. The Injec-
tor Coefficients screen displays injector
serial numbers.

Use caution when handling fuel injectors. Prevent
dirt and debris from entering fuel inlet and outlet
ports of injectors or fuel rails. Cover the injector
