Fuel System
Fuel Component Servicing
Disconnect the fuel lift pump pulse hoses at the
crankcase fittings.

1. Fuel outlet hose at the vapor separator
2. Pulse hoses at the crankcase fittings
Remove the fuel lift pump and hoses as an
assembly.
Installation
Connect the fuel lift pump pulse hoses to the
crankcase. Secure with new Oetiker clamps.
Connect the fuel outlet hose to the vapor separa-
tor. Secure with a new Oetiker clamp.
Connect the fuel inlet hose in the rigging center.
Secure with a new Oetiker clamp.
Connect battery cables.
Run outboard and check for fuel leaks.

Vapor Separator Service

IMPORTANT:
Replace the water separating fuel
filter when replacing a vapor separator.

Removal
When servicing the fuel system, always shift
the outboard to NEUTRAL position, turn the
key switch OFF and remove the key, so the
outboard cannot be started accidentally.

Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Relieving
Fuel System Pressure on p. 168.
Disconnect the battery cables at the battery.
Remove the engine top, front and rear covers.
Remove the starboard side panel. Remove the
starboard frame. Refer to Engine Cover and

Frame Service on p. 55.
Use a #2 Posi-drive screwdriver to remove the
three screws retaining the center frame to the
frame mounts.

Disconnect vapor separator electrical connector.
Carefully remove the Oetiker clamps from the:
upper & lower water cooling hoses.
vapor separator vent outlet hose.
fuel inlet hose at the rigging center.
1. Upper & lower water cooling hoses
2. Vapor separator vent outlet hose
Place shop towels to catch any spilled fuel. Then
remove the following hoses:
