Network Access Ports

The SCM provides a number of specialized access ports available for TCP/IP-based traffic. Each
port can be provisioned to any unused port number between 1024 and 65535, inclusive.
NOTE
Each port number must be unique with respect to the other ports.
Table 11
lists the available ports and their default values.
Port Description
TL1 Telnet Port
TL1 Raw-TCP Port
Secondary Telnet Port
Network Terminal Server Telnet Port
ADMIN Terminal Server Telnet Port
NOTE
If the RJ-45 Ethernet connection is lost or removed, the SCM waits
approximately three minutes before terminating any sessions
coming through that interface. If the connection is restored before
the timer expires, existing sessions are not terminated. Additionally,
closing a menu session terminates a Telnet session, but closing a
TL1 session does not terminate a Telnet session.
To use Telnet to communicate with the SCM, complete the following steps:
1. Set the proper IP Address for the chosen connection method, through the
2. Connect to the Ethernet interface on the backplane of the OPTI-6100 chassis.
3. When a successful Telnet connection is established, the OPTI-6100 Login screen is
displayed. The cursor is placed at the Account Name field.
4. Input the Account Name and Password as described in the VT100 login method.
On entering the correct password, the OPTI-6100 Main menu is presented on the screen.
This indicates a successful login.
