Mapping on DS1 VT Modules

This section details the relationship between VT ordering on the OPTI-6100 OMM modules in
the HS slots and the Mapping provisioning options on a DS1 VT tributary module in MS slots.
This section applies to the following modules:
DS1VM (P/N 1184515L1)
DS1VME (P/N 1184515L2)
DS1VMT (P/N 1184515L3)
DS1VM2 (P/N 1184515L4)
The listed DS1 VT modules support the following types of cross-connects:
STS-1 Cross-Connects:
An STS-1 cross-connect is a bulk cross-connect, mapping all 28 DS1s to VTs at one time,
according to the Mapping scheme selected on the DS1 module.
When an STS-1 cross-connect is made to a DS1 VT module, the HS AID selects the STS-1,
but does not determine the VT ordering to the DS1 ports. The VT-to-DS1 port ordering is
determined by the DS1 Mapping option selected on the DS1 module:
Table 142
on page 272 details the relationship of the VT ordering on the HS fiber to the
DS1 physical ports for an STS-1 cross-connect.
VT Cross-Connects:
When VT cross-connects are made to a DS1 VT module, the Mapping option affects the
relationship between the VT order and the physical DS1 ports.
Table 143
on page 273 details the relationship of the VT ordering on the HS fiber to the
DS1 physical ports for VT1.5 cross-connects.
NOTE
In the following tables:
x = the STS-3c number; 1, 2, 3, or 4
y = the STS-1 number within the STS-3c; 1, 2, or 3
MS# = the MS slot of the DS1 module
If using OMM3, the STS-3c number is always 1.
