DS1 Framing
This option is only available if Operation Mode is set to T1. For E1 operation refer to
Framing", below.
DS1 Framing operation is affected by the selected Mode (CESoP or SAToP).
SAToP mode: DS1 Framing configures the framing format of the DS1 carried by the
pseudowire. If a frame format is selected (SLC96, ESF, or SF) the PWE3M monitors the DS1
for CRC-6 and framing errors. If a Loss of Frame (LOF) is detected the L-bit is set in the
pseudowire packet to indicate a circuit fault. Only the DS1 from the backplane is monitored
for framing errors.
CESoP mode: DS1 Framing configures the framing format of the system synchronous DS1.
In CESoP mode a framing format must be selected in order to deconstruct DS0 timeslots.
The PWE3M monitors the DS1 for CRC-6 and framing errors. If LOF is detected the L-bit is
set in the pseudowire packet to indicate a circuit fault. Only the DS1 from the backplane
is monitored for framing errors. The DS1 constructed of DS0 timeslots from within a
pseudowire follows the provisioned framing format.
The DS1 Framing format is provisioned individually per pseudowire, with a default of ESF.
E1 Framing
This option is only available if Operation Mode is set to E1. For T1 operation refer to
Framing", above.
E1 Framing operation as affected by the selected Mode (CESoP or SAToP).
SAToP mode: E1 Framing configures the framing format of the E1 carried by the
pseudowire. If a frame format is selected (SFAS or FAS+CRC) the PWE3M monitors the E1
for CRC-4 and framing errors. If a Loss of Frame (LOF) is detected the L-bit is set in the
pseudowire packet to indicate a circuit fault. Only the E1 from the backplane is monitored
for framing errors.
CESoP mode: E1 Framing configures the framing format of the system synchronous E1. In
CESoP mode a framing format must be selected in order to deconstruct DS0 timeslots. The
PWE3M monitors the E1 for CRC-4 and framing errors. If LOF is detected the L-bit is set
in the pseudowire packet to indicate a circuit fault. Only the E1 from the backplane is
monitored for framing errors. The E1 constructed of DS0 timeslots from within a
pseudowire follows the provisioned framing format.
The E1 Framing format is provisioned individually per pseudowire, with a default of Unframed.
