Using a Fan with the LMX Chassis

The OPTI-6100 LMX Fan Assembly (LFANM,
designed to install inside an LMX chassis in a dedicated fan slot.
The LFANM is an included component of the LMX chassis, requiring no additional mounting
procedure. Power and fusing are supplied through the chassis, as well as the contacts for the
three standard fan alarms. These connections are internal to the LMX chassis, and require no
additional wiring.
The LFANM consists of two main components:
The Fan Module (P/N 1184564G1)
The Fan Filter (P/N 1184564G2)
NOTICE
The LFANM is required in any application of the LMX chassis.
The LFANM operates identically to Enhanced fan packs available for the MX or SMX chassis,
providing 16 extra environmental alarm inputs that are provisioned through the SCM. These
alarm inputs are the only additional wiring the LFANM requires.
To put the LFANM into service, complete the following steps:
1. Insert the LFANM into the dedicated fan slot in the LMX chassis, using pressure at both
ends to ensure a proper connection to the chassis backplane.
2. Tighten the retaining screws at both ends of the LFANM.
3. Connect the environmental alarm inputs to wire-wrap pairs 1–16 (one pair per input).
