OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice
Auxiliary Inputs
The following sections detail the wiring of auxiliary input contacts on the different chassis,
including alarm connections and an RS-485 bus for daisy-chaining up to 16 chassis together.
The topics in the Auxiliary Inputs section are as follows:

The SCM monitors the status of each module and provides necessary alarm processing to
determine the overall alarm state of the system. The SCM also provides a battery backup real
time clock to time-stamp alarms.
The OPTI-6100 allows for several alarm in and out connections. Wire wrap connections on the
rear panel deliver alarm notification to the fuse and alarm panel or other external display.
Alarm connections include the following:
User-definable external alarm inputs for environmental alarms
♦
A connection for an external Alarm Cut Off
♦
AUDIBLE alarm connections for CRITICAL, MAJOR, and MINOR (CR, MJ, MN) alarms
♦
VISUAL alarm connections for CR, MJ, and MN alarms
♦
Fan alarm pins, to connect to a fan assembly (MX and SMX only)
♦
Alarm Inputs
The SCM supports external alarm, status or control inputs. The SCM accepts a –48 VDC or
±24 VDC signal as an active state. These inputs are accessed by way of two wire-wrap posts per
input function, located on the rear panel of the OPTI-6100 chassis.
Table 5
lists the alarm inputs supported.
NOTE
The remote Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2, and Auxiliary 3 inputs can be
provisioned as TL1 Environmental Alarms.
