OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice

DS3/EC1 Module Installation

Use this Installation and Turn-Up procedure for the following modules:
DS3EC1M (P/N 1184503L1)

DS3EC1M3 (P/N 1184533L1)
♦
DS3/EC1 tributary modules map/demap DS3 or EC1 signals into STS-1 signals.
The DS3M3E and DS3M3T modules support DS3 framers, and can terminate the DS3 path.
DS3/EC1 modules plug directly into any OPTI-6100 chassis, in any MS slot designated for
DS3/EC1 service, identified as follows:
MX or SMX chassis: Slots labeled

LMX chassis: Slots labeled
♦
For redundant operation, the slot pairs/groups are as follows:
MX chassis: slots 1&2, 5&6, 7&8, and 11&12
♦
SMX chassis: Slots 1&2 and 3&4
♦
LMX chassis: Slots 1–5; 8–12, 13–17, and 20–24
♦
NOTE
The DS3EC1M and DS3EC1M3 modules are not supported in the
LMX chassis. All other DS3 modules are supported in all chassis.
