OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice
GigE fiber modules plug directly into any OPTI-6100 chassis, in any MS slot.
NOTICE
The GEFMEH and GEFMEW modules are each two MS slots wide.
These modules plug directly into any OPTI-6100 chassis, in any
odd-numbered MS slot. These modules also occupy the adjacent,
even-numbered slot.

SFP Installation

NOTE
Some GigE fiber modules require one or more SFPs to provide the
optical interface(s). The SFP-based GigE modules are as follows:
GEFM
PWE3M
If installing a GESM or GEMM module, skip this section.
If installing an SFP-based GigE module, install the required SFP(s) into the SFP cage(s),
according to the following steps:
1. Insert an SFP into the specified SFP cage, with the release bail facing outward.
2. Slide the SFP all the way into the SFP cage.
3. Using thumb and forefinger, firmly squeeze the SFP and module together, to ensure a
proper connection.
4. If installing a GEFMEW, repeat this procedure for the second SFP.
Table 153
lists the SFPs supported on the GigE fiber SFP modules.
