EFANM Installation

The OPTI-6100 Enhanced Fan Assembly (EFANM,
directly under the MX chassis in either a 19-inch or 23-inch rack. The EFANM operates identi-
cally to the FANM, with the addition of 16 environmental alarm inputs that can be provisioned
through the SCM.
To install an EFANM Assembly, complete the following steps:
1. Inspect the EFANM. If damaged, file a claim with the carrier and contact ADTRAN
Customer Support. For more information, refer to
2. Mount the FANM in the rack immediately below the MX chassis with the screws provided.
The mounting brackets can be reversed to accommodate either a 19-inch or 23-inch frame.
3. Disconnect power, and remove the fuses from A and B power supplies (if present).
4. Run power connections to the EFANM for A and B power feeds, and terminate them on the
power lugs located on the terminal block on the rear of the chassis.
NOTICE
If the OPTI-6100 is wired for dual-feed power, then the EFANM
should also be dual-feed powered. These connections can be
made with up to 14 gauge wire.
If only A power is supplied, with no B power feed, the single power
feed must be connected to both the A and B terminals, to prevent
an unnecessary B power feed alarm.
5. Run connecting wires from the
and
wire wrap pins on the rear of the OPTI-6100 chassis.

6. Connect the environmental alarm inputs to wire-wrap pairs 1–16 (one pair per input).
7. Insert fuses into the fuse panel. Use a 1.0 A fuse for –48 VDC or a 1.0 A fuse for ±24 VDC.
8. Restore power to the EFANM.
