OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice

Auto In-Service

Each OPTI-6100 module is equipped with Auto In-Service (AINS), which pre-provisions any
facility to go automatically In Service (IS), only after the customer side of the interface has a
valid signal that has been active for a predetermined, provisionable period of time (refer to

"AINS Time"

on page 332). With AINS enabled, and the facility in an active AINS functional
service state, alarms are not reported until the functional service state transitions to IS.
To place a facility IS through AINS:
1. Enable AINS on a module with a Facility Provisioned State of OOS-MA UAS.
2. Provision the Equipment Provisioned State to IS.
3. Provision the Facility Provisioned State to IS.
AINS transitions the Facility Functional State to IS when the following occurs:
A valid signal is detected from the customer side, and
The signal remains present for the full duration of AINS Time
NOTE
The facility must be provisioned directly from OOS-MA-UAS to IS.
With AINS enabled, a facility provisioned to IS does not go directly into service. A service state
of OOS-AU FAF, AINS is created, indicating that the facility is waiting for a valid signal to be
established from the customer end. The facility is only truly In Service once a signal has been
received and maintained for the duration of the AINS Time period. If a facility alarm condition
occurs during the AINS Time countdown, the countdown restarts. Once a valid signal is
received, it is passed to the network. Once a signal persists until the AINS Time has elapsed,
alarm reporting and framing (when applicable) come into effect.
NOTE
AINS only operates during the initial turn-up of a facility, and is no
longer active once the Facility service state becomes IS. If an alarm
condition causes an IS facility to go OOS, AINS cannot return the
facility to IS. To re-initialize the AINS Timer, the facility must be
deleted (OOS-MA UAS) and re-created (IS).
AINS is composed of two provisionable options: AINS Timer and AINS Time.

AINS Timer

AINS Timer enables or disables Auto In-Service. The default is Disabled. For modules with
framers (DS1VME and DS3M3E), the default is Enabled.
AINS Time
AINS Time specifies the period a valid signal must be maintained before a facility is automati-
cally placed IS by AINS. The valid values are one minute to 96 hours. The default is four hours.
