Connect Chassis Power and Ground
The following sections detail the wiring for the different OPTI-6100 chassis.
MX Chassis Connections

To run power to the MX chassis, complete the following steps:
1. Disconnect the power source. Remove the protective cover from the power connections.
2. Ground the chassis to Frame Ground per the following guidelines:

The Power wire must not be a heavier gauge than the Ground wire.

Power connections can be made with 14–18 AWG wire. ADTRAN
♦
recommends a minimum of 16 AWG.
Frame Ground can be connected with at least 14 AWG wire, or in

accordance with standard company requirements. Up to 6 AWG
wire can be accommodated with the appropriate lug.

If only single-feed power is to be supplied, A and B power feeds must
be wired together to avoid a standing alarm. If A and B power are
both provided, both must be of the same voltage potential.
3. Run power connections to the chassis for A and B power, and terminate them on the power
lugs located on the upper right corner of the chassis rear panel. See

Do not re-insert fuses at this time. Finish wiring all chassis
connections before applying power to the chassis.
4. Replace the cover over the power connectors.
