OPTI-6100 Installation and Turn-Up Practice
DS1 Module Installation
Use this Installation and Turn-Up procedure for the following modules:
DS1M (P/N 1184513L1)
♦
DS1M2 (P/N 1184513L2)
♦
DS1VM (P/N 1184515L1)
♦
DS1 tributary modules multiplex/demultiplex one STS-1 to/from 28 DS1 circuits. DS1 service
is routed through rear-panel connectors (champ on MX and SMX, and 2mm Hard Metric on
LMX), with each DS1 circuit transmitted on a separate set of pins.
DS1 modules plug directly into any MS slot designated for DS1 service, identified as follows:
In the MX and SMX chassis, these slots are labeled
♦
All slots in the LMX chassis support DS1 operation.
♦
For redundant operation, the slot pairs are as follows:
In the MX chassis: slots 3&4, 7&8, and 9&10
♦
In the SMX chassis: slots 3&4
♦
In the LMX chassis: all odd/even slot pairs
♦
NOTE
The DS1VM module is not supported in the LMX chassis. All other
DS1 modules are supported in all chassis.
Features may vary between DS1 modules. For detailed descriptions
of individual modules, refer to the OPTI-6100 Overview, Engineering,
Applications, and Ordering Practice (P/N 61184500L1-7).
