Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Module Installation

Use this Installation and Turn-Up procedure for the following modules:
GESM (P/N 1184518L1,

GEMM (P/N 1184519L1)

GEFMEW (P/N 1184531L1,

The GESM/GEMM map/demap up to 155 Mbps (STS-3c) to/from an optical GigE port.
The GEFM concentrates up to 84 DS1s to a maximum of 30 virtual concatenation groups into
an optical GigE facility.
The GEFMEH maps/demaps up to 622 Mbps (STS-12c rate) to/from an optical GigE port.
The PWE3M multiplexes/demultiplexes 28 DS1s to/from 28 VT1.5s of an STS-1 within an
STS-3c. The DS1s are packetized into pseudowires and transmitted on an optical GigE port.
The GEFMEW maps/demaps up to 1.2 Gbps (STS-24c rate) between the backplane and two
optical GigE ports.
NOTICE
The GEFM module only operates with OMM modules which

include UPSR mode capabilities.
The GEFMEH and GEFMEW modules only operate with OMM12

Enhanced modules or OMM48 modules.
