SMX Fan Assembly Installation

The different mounting procedures for the SMX chassis and appropriate fan assemblies are
detailed in the following topics:

If the SMX chassis is to be mounted using the 19-inch or 23-inch rackmount brackets, either
the SFANM or SHFANM can be installed.
To rack-mount the SMX chassis with either of these fans, complete the following steps:
1. Inspect the fan assembly. If damaged, file a claim with the carrier and contact ADTRAN
Customer Support. For more information, refer to
2. Mount the fan assembly immediately below the SMX chassis, using SMX Fan Brackets, as
illustrated in Figure

NOTICE
Use the 3/8-inch screws provided with the SMX chassis. Only use
the 3/16-inch screws for mounting the SMX without a fan assembly.
