L o w e r A r m R e m o v a l / I n s t a l l a t i o n
Install the remaining parts in the reverse order of
r e m o v a l , and note these items:
• Be careful not to damage the ball joint boot w h e n
installing the knuckle.
• First install all the c o m p o n e n t s and lightly tighten
the bolts and nuts, then raise the suspension to
. load it w i t h the vehicle's w e i g h t before fully
tightening to the specified torque values. Do not
place the jack against the ball joint pin of the
knuckle.
• Tighten all m o u n t i n g hardware to the specified
torque values.
• Torque the castle nut to the lower torque
specification, then tighten it only far enough to
align the slot w i t h the ball joint pin hole. Do not
align the castle nut by loosening it.
• Install a new cotter pin on the castle nut after
t o r q u i n g .
• Before installing the w h e e l , clean the mating
surface on the brake disc and the inside of the
w h e e l .
• Check the front wheel alignment, and adjust it if
necessary (see page 18-7).
Special Tools Required
• Ball joint remover, 28 m m 07MAC-SL0A202
• Ball joint thread protector, 12 m m 07AAF-SDAA100
1. Raise the front of the vehicle, and support it w i t h
safety stands in the proper locations (see page 1-7).
2. Remove the front w h e e l .
3. Remove the damper fork (A) f r o m the d a m p e r (B)
and lower a r m (C).
NOTE: During installation, insert the d a m p e r fork
into the damper lower end so the aligning tab (D) is
aligned w i t h the slot (E) in the damper fork. Replace
the damper fork m o u n t i n g nut (F) w i t h a new one.
4. Remove the flange nut (A) w h i l e holding the joint
pin (B) w i t h a hex w r e n c h (C), and disconnect the
stabilizer link (D) f r o m the lower a r m (E).
