PAPER FEED AND REGISTRATION
11.4.3 Tray Lock Mechanism
[B]
[A]
[C]
A tray lock solenoid [A] is installed on the rear side frame for each paper tray.
When the start key is pressed, the tray lock solenoid for the selected paper
tray is energized and the tray lock lever [B] catches the rear part of the left
tray rail. This is to prevent the paper tray from being pulled out while the
paper is being fed out.
Also, when a paper jam happens between the paper tray and the relay rollers
(the nearest relay sensor [C] is activated) the tray lock solenoid turns on. This
is to prevent the jammed paper from being torn to pieces by pulling out the
paper tray before clearing the jammed paper.
When jammed paper is cleared and the relay sensor is deactivated, the tray
lock solenoid is deenergized even when the front door is open. Then the
paper tray can be drawn out.
