PAPER FEED AND REGISTRATION
12 February 1992
[I]
[H]
The registration rollers have two functions. One is aligning the lead edge of
the paper with the leading edge of the latent image on the drum with the lead
edge of paper. When the CPU receives the lead edge signal from the I/O
CPU, the registration clutch turns on 364 ms after that. It turns off 115 ms
after the trailing edge of paper is detected by the registration sensor.
The other function is to correct skewing of paper fed from the trays. The feed
relay clutch turns off a certain time after the registration sensor detects the
lead edge of the paper, making a little buckle on the paper between the upper
relay rollers [H] and the registration rollers [I]. The timing for turning off the
feed relay clutch differs for each paper tray and it can be changed by SP
mode.
The registration roller pressure springs are different at the front and the rear
to prevent skewing during transportation. The front spring is a little stronger
and is black color.
