11.4.2 Paper End Detection

The paper end sensor [A] (photointerruptor) is located on the rear side frame
next to the tray lift assembly for each paper tray. When the paper tray is not
set in position, the paper end actuator [B] is pushed away from the paper end
sensor by the tray lift lever [C].
When the paper tray is set, the tray lift lever rotates and the paper end
actuator turns towards the sensor by its own weight. If paper is loaded in the
paper tray, the paper end feeler [D] is raised by the paper stack and the
paper end sensor is deactivated.
When the paper tray runs out of paper, the paper end feeler drops in the cut
out of the tray bottom plate and the paper end sensor is activated. Then the
tray lift motor starts the reverse rotation and lowers the tray bottom plate. The
tray lift motor stops when the paper end sensor becomes deactivated.
