To set default metric values for OSPF, use the default-metric command. Use the
no form of the command to remove the default-metric setting.
Default metric value appropriate for the specified routing protocol.

Router configuration
The default-metric command is used in conjunction with the redistribute router
command (redistribute command on page 502) to cause the current routing
protocol to use the same metric value for all redistributed routes.
A default metric helps solve the problem of redistributing routes with incompatible
metrics. Whenever metrics do not convert, using a default metric provides a
reasonable substitute and enables the redistribution to proceed.
The setting precedence that determines the metric is:
metric in redistributed command > default-metric setting.
The following example shows a router redistributing RIP-derived routes into the
OSPF domain and all redistributed routes are advertised with an OSPF metric of
10.
