Ethernet Interface

The switching port can connect to stations wired in standard RJ-45 Ethernet station mode.

Out of Band (OOB) Interface

You can use a standard RJ-45 Ethernet cable to connect the switch OOB management interface to the
network. Figure 3-1 illustrates the RJ-45 connector.

Serial Cable Connection

You can use the RJ-45 to DB9 serial cable to connect the switch to a terminal for initial setup and
configuration (You can also use a computer running terminal emulation software). The switch's serial
cable is a RJ-45 to female DB-9 crossover cable.

Connecting the Switch to a Terminal

1. Connect the serial cable to the terminal (console) ASCII DTE RS-232.
2. Connect the serial cable to the switch's serial port.

Power Connection

1. Using a 5-foot (1.5 m) standard power cable with safety ground connected, connect the power cable to
the AC main socket located on the rear panel.
2. Connect the power cable to a grounded AC outlet.
