Rationalizing Surfaces

You can divide a range of surfaces (planar, ruled surfaces, revolved surfaces, and double-curved surfaces) to
rationalize the surface into parametric buildable components.
Use the following work flow to rationalize a surface.
1 Divide the surface. See
2 Pattern the surface. See
3 Apply a pattern component family. See

Dividing a Surface

1 Select the surface.
2 Click Modify Form tab
3 Adjust the spacing of the divided surface on the Options Bar. See
4 If finer adjustments need to be made, open the Face Manager to adjust rotation and grid

Understanding UV Grids

A surface can be divided by UV grids (the natural grid division of the surface). Patterns may be later applied
to the divided surface. See

may affect how many divisions a surface needs in the conceptual design. See
