Switch System Reference Manual
NEVER connect an external source to the Model 7751, 7752, or 7753
module. Not only can an external source cause damage to the module,
but there is the possibility of igniting an inflator under test if the wrong
channel(s) is closed.
An external source can be used with a 7702 module. However, when
testing airbags or other devices that present a danger from unlimited
energy sources, NEVER connect an external source to the Model 2790
front panel inputs or a 7702 module.
If using an external source with the 7702 model or with the front panel
inputs of the Model 2790, make sure that incorrect channel closures do
not connect the external source to the 7751/7752/7753 module via the
backplane of the Model 2790. Current >100mA from an external
source could damage the 7751/7752/7753 module.
For system channel operation, the instrument will display the "OVERFLOW"
message when 303V is exceeded.
However, for multiple channel operation, the "OVERFLOW" message will not
occur until the maximum voltage of the mainframe (not module) is exceeded.
Therefore, the "OVERFLOW" message would occur only if 1010V is exceeded.
Careless multiple channel operation with external sources could create
an electric shock hazard that could result in severe injury or death.
Improper operation can also cause damage to the switching modules
and external circuitry. Multiple channel operation should be restricted
to experienced test engineers who recognize the dangers associated
with multiple channel closures.
The Model 2790 can scan switching module channels of the Model 7702 switching
module. Each channel in the scan can have its own unique setup configuration.
Scanning is covered in
A Model 2790 with firmware revision A04 and later can scan memory patterns
for the 7751/7752/7753 modules (see

When a setup is saved as a user setup (SAV0, SAV1, SAV2, or SAV3), closed
channels are also saved. When the setup is restored, those channels (and only
those channels) will be closed (see
