General

Bleed
CAUTION Running the engine with air in the system could damage the fuel injection pump. After
maintenance, the system must be bled to remove any air.
Air in the fuel system could cause misfiring or failure to start. Air will enter the system if any part of it is
disconnected or emptied.
1. Make the machine safe.
Refer to: Maintenance > Maintenance Positions (Page 184).
2. Get accesses to the fuel filter.
Refer to: Maintenance > Service Points (Page 185).
3. Loosen the air bleeder plug and operate the priming pump until fuel appears at plug.
4. Tighten plug and operate pump until the fuel filter is filled with fuel.
5. Wait for approximately one minute and loosen air bleeder plug to bleed any air from the fuel filter.
6. Repeat the steps 3 to 5 until no air comes from the bleeder plug.
7. Tighten the plug securely and wipe off any spilt fuel.
8. Start the engine but do not increase engine speed. If the engine fails to start repeat procedure from step 5.
9. After engine start up, keep at idle speed for five seconds then increase the speed slowly for three minutes.
10. Use throttle dial to operate the machine at maximum speed.
11. Stop the machine and check for the leaks.
