Charging System

Alternator

The alternator 1 is located on the engine driven by the

engine Front End Accessory Drive belt (FEAD).

The 24V 55 A alternator is a three phase generator having

a rotating field winding and static power windings.

Output is controlled by a solid state regulator and rectifier.

The regulator varies the field current in accordance with

electrical demand. The rectifier converts the AC output

from the alternator to a DC supply for the machine

batteries (24V). Both the regulator and rectifier are integral

parts of the alternator.
