Using the DPD Status Table
The table indicates the regeneration cycle that is
applicable for the status of the DPD. The status is shown
as a combination of elapsed time between regeneration
(axis X) and particle matter accumulation (axis Y).
Use the values displayed in the DPD trip status window (0
to 15) to determine the DPD time status position on axis X,
where each block (0 to 4) equals 3 units.
Use the values displayed in the DPD particle matter
accumulation window (0 to 15) to determine the DPD
accumulation status (axis Y), where each block (0 to 5)
equals 2.5 units.
Plot a line from the values, where the lines meet will be
inside one of the four regions, A, B, C or D.
The type of regeneration required for each region is as
follows:
– Region A - Normal (automatic regeneration) range -
Use FORCED regeneration
– Region B - Manual range - Use FORCED
regeneration
– Region C - Particle matter accumulation is high - Use
SLOW FORCED regeneration
– Region D - Elapsed time is outside the normal range
- Use SLOW FORCED regeneration

Initiating Regeneration Using Servicemaster
Before using the forced regeneration or slow forced
regeneration functions:
– Make sure that the machine is in a suitable location
and away from flammable materials.
– Make sure that you understand how to use the
Servicemaster tool.
– Due to the need to control the rate of burning inside
the DPD, the slow forced regeneration can take 8
hours to compete.
– On completion the engine oil must be replaced.
To carry out a forced or slow forced regeneration of the
DPD proceed as follows:
1
Connect Servicemaster and open the T4i DPD
diagnostics tool.
2
Start the engine and let it warm up. The engine
coolant temperature must be more than 70
3
Use the DPD trip status and particle matter
accumulation values together with the status table
shown on the diagnostics screen, and determine the
type of regeneration required.
