16 If shoe plate 124 was not removed at step 11, release
it by tapping with a copper rod just above roller
bearing race 443.
17 If renewing bearing 443, position the drive shaft/
bearing assembly on the bed of a press (as shown),
shaft 101 output end uppermost, using a suitable
support X under the inner race of the bearing. Apply
pressure to the end of the shaft to push it from the
bearing. Discard the bearing.

18 To remove oil seal 491, position front cover 304 on the
bed of a press (as shown). Using a suitable diameter
disc, i.e. one which will penetrate the front cover bore
and contact the oil seal, apply pressure to remove the
oil seal. Discard the oil seal.
19 If renewing bearing 444 remove from valve housing
303 using a sliding hammer bearing puller - refer to
Section 1 - Service Tools.
