Installation and Maintenance Manual
Removal
Toshiba VP Systems Release 7.1 July, 1994
To remove the VP 300, follow the steps below.
1.
Open and remove the front door of the cabinet.
2.
Put on an anti-static wrist strap.
3.
Make sure the VP 300 is powered OFF.
4.
Remove the power supply unit, fan tray, and all disk drives to reduce the
weight of the cabinet and protect the disk drives from damage. Refer to
MAINTENANCE, Hardware Removal, for instructions on removing
assemblies. Be sure to note the slot position of all disk drives, since they
must be replaced in the same slot. PCAs in slots Al through A14 need not
be removed.
5.
If the system has been in service, disconnect all cables from the rear of the
cabinet. Be sure to note the cable positions, since they may need to be
reconnected exactly as they were.
6.
Two people are needed to remove the cabinet from the rack. Lift the
partially empty cabinet out of the rack and place it on the floor.
7.
Install all assemblies removed in step 4 and secure them to the cabinet.
Refer to MAINTENANCE, Hardware Removal, for instructions on
installing assemblies.
8.
Remove the rack mount hardware.
9.
If the VP 300 is to be shipped, refer to Receiving the Equipment,
Reshipping Procedures section, in this chapter.
10. If the VP 300 is to be put back into service, install all cables in the back of
the cabinet as they were before beginning this procedure.
11. Turn the power to the cabinet ON and test operation. Refer to the Testing
section in this chapter.
12. Replace and lock the front door to the cabinet.
