I Configuration for Message Waiting Indication Ports
I
Trunks and Trunk Groups
Trunks that are to be answered by the VP 300 must be configured to terminate at the MIC hunt
group. If the VP 300 is to identify a group of incoming trunks for special applications, trunks in
that group must be assigned the same trunk service number.
Toshiba VP Systems
Release 6.1
February, 1993
If the BPX class of service option COV Voice Mail Port is available, any VP 300 outcall
port can perform MWI. If the COV Voice Mail Port Option is not available, SX-2000 ports
must be dedicated for MWI. Configure dedicated MWI ports as follows:
1. Allocate a Superset extension for each MWI port.
2. Assign the MWI ports the same PBX COS assigned to the MCI call processing ports.
3. Access the Superset 4 Assignment form to assign the Prime Directory Number and
Interconnect Number for each MIC MWI port extension. Using this form, program the
extensions as follows:
Prime Directory Number — Enter the extension number of the MIC port.
ACD Agent — Set this entry to NO.
Call Announce Number — Leave this entry blank.
Interconnect Number — Enter the same Interconnect Number assigned to the MIC
call processing ports in step 4 above.
4. Access the Intercept Handling Assignment form and allocate an intercept handling
assignment that routes to reorder tone for all of the intercept reasons listed. This
prevents the MWI ports from ever reaching an actual intercept position.
5. Access the Station Service Assignment form to assign station service parameters to
each MWI extension. Program the form's entries as follows:
Intercept Number — Assign Intercept Handling number selected in step 11 above.
Class of Service — Assign the COS number allocated for the MWI ports in step 8
above. Use the same COS for Day, Night 1, and Night 2 operation.
Class of Restriction and Default Account Code Index — Assign these parameters
according to the customer application. Class of Restriction should apply only if the
MIC ports are controlling message waiting indicators across MSDN links.
6. Access the Feature Access Code Assignment form and note the Feature Access Codes
for Message Waiting – Activate and Message Waiting – Deactivate. These are needed
to configure the VP 300 for message waiting control. Note that in an MSDN
environment, these codes must be the same for each SX-2000 node at which the VP
300 will control message waiting indicators.
