Changes for Message Waiting Indication
Using the SX-2000's message waiting indication control codes, VP 300 can provide Message
Waiting Indication for phones equipped with message waiting indicators. Phones without
message waiting indicators can be notified of messages with a special message waiting tone
that the station owner hears upon going off-hook.
If the SX-2000 has the class of service option COV Voice Mail Port this class of service option
can be assigned to all of the VP 300 ports so that any VP 300 port can control message waiting
indicators. If this class of service option is not available or cannot be used, one or more VP 300
ports must be dedicated for message waiting control and cannot answer calls.
To enable the VP 300 to control message waiting indicators, make the following configuration
changes using the UPDATE program.

System Parameter 131 — DEV: SPEAK "DIAL ZERO FOR
ASSISTANCE"
Modify the value of System Parameter 131 to be YES to change the
prompt for a caller transferred to assistance from, "Please hold for
assistance" to "Dial zero for assistance."
The TRUNK GROUP Table specifies call processing parameters for
different trunk groups by the VP 300 COS.
Configure Trunk Group 0 with a greeting for use with internal
forwarded calls received without extension numbers. The greeting
should specify that the person called does not have a mailbox on the
system.
COS Attribute 9 — LAMP OR DISPLAY PHONE MESSAGE
WAITING
Assign a COS with Attribute 9 to those mailboxes of extensions that
are to have Message Waiting Indication.
CONFIGURATION OF MESSAGE WAITING CONTROL
PORT
For Mitel SX-2000 systems not using COV Voice Mail Port class of
service option, one or more ports must be dedicated to controlling
message waiting indicators.
If only one port is required for MWI, use System Parameter 106 to
specify the port. Set outcall to NO for this port. This port must not
receive calls and need not be a MIC port.
If multiple dedicated ports are required for MWI (e.g., if multiple
MWI ports are required but the COV Voice Mail Port option is not
available or if MWI ports are to be assigned by the VP System Class
of Service), these ports must be MIC ports. Configure these ports as
MIC message waiting links in the SLOTS Table and set outcall to NO
for these ports. These ports must not receive calls.
