MITEL SX-200 DIGITAL LIMITATIONS AND APPLICATION
RECOMMENDATIONS
The following sections outline limitations to Mitel SX-200 Digital — VP 300 Adaptive Integration.
Most of the limitations are due to limitations within the PBX itself; a few are the result of the form
of integration the VP 300 uses with the Mitel PBX.
I
PBX Functional Limitations that Affect MWI
All SX-200 Digital software levels support use of the Superset sub-attendant feature to control
message waiting indication. For all but the most recent software release, this is the only means
the PBX provides the VP System to control message waiting indicators.
With Generic 1003, release D96.7, the SX-200 Digital provides the VP System's MIC ports
with the capability to control message waiting indicators using Superset softkeys. This method,
the COV Voice Mail port method, has many advantages over the sub-attendant method, but has
its own limitations and configuration requirements.
Consider the limitations of both message waiting indication methods before implementing the
feature.
The following information applies to both sub-attendant message waiting indication and COV
Voice Mail port message waiting indication.
One or more Superset port from the PBX is required for message waiting control. This port
must be restricted so that it cannot answer calls.
Message waiting indication for a Superset 4 display telephone appears as a callback
message. The VP 300 cannot be called back from a Superset 4 because the MIC message
waiting port cannot answer calls.
Message waiting indicators on a Superset 4 display telephone can be turned OFF by using
the READ MSG feature and pressing the CANCEL softkey.
Once the VP 300 has turned ON a Superset 4 display telephone's message waiting
indicator, the Superset 4 periodically rings briefly to indicate that a message has been
received.
Generic 1003 Only
Once the VP 300 has turned ON a Superset 4 display telephone's message waiting
indicator, the Superset 4 display reads 1 MSG WAITING, instead of the usual time
and date display. This message waiting display does not indicate the number of
messages in the employee's mailbox. It is merely an indication that there is at least
one new message.
Prior to Generic 1003, D, the SX-200 Digital permits no more than 100 message waiting
indicators to be on simultaneously. For Generic 1003, D06.7 and later releases, the SX-200
Digital permits no more than 250 message waiting indicators to be on simultaneously.
