Basic Definition
PASSWORD
x = password level
y = new password
The VP 300 has three password levels. Each password may be a maximum of
eight alphanumeric characters, 0 – 9 and A through Z. All alpha characters must
be in capital letters. To logon to a new system, press
password. Refer to the Configuration manual — UNDERSTANDING
CONFIGURATION.
Default passwords are created by the manufacturer. These passwords should be
changed immediately. The following describes the three password levels:
MAINTENANCE
Allows full access to system diagnostics, error information, and the INSTALL
and UPDATE programs. Beginning with Release 7.1, a default password is set
by the manufacturer. The default password is MAINT.
ADMINISTRATIVE
Allows entrance to the UPDATE program. Also allows the LIST and CLEAR
commands to be used for the Hardware Error Table, Traffic Pegs, and all reports.
Beginning with Release 7.1, a default password is set by the manufacturer. The
default password is ADMIN.
REPORT
Allows the LIST and CLEAR commands to be used for the Hardware Error
Table, Traffic Pegs, and all reports, and the DEV command to be used for E&M
reports. Beginning with Release 7.1, a default password is set by the
manufacturer. The default password is REPORT.
Passwords can be set for each level as follows:

To set or change the password, at the @ prompt, enter the following commands
followed by the password.
